Caleb’s earliest memory of recorded music was “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” from the live Pink Floyd record, Delicate Sound of Thunder. He first picked up a guitar at the age of 11. Davis showed a natural gift for the instrument and started learning under the direction of his father.
Early on Davis was mastering blues and rock. Almost immediately he had the natural ability to produce the same blues vocabulary and stylistic expression as many popular rock guitarists. For Davis it was the very beginning. Over time he grew to love Rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, R&B, Gospel, Soul, Funk, 20th Century Composers, Country, and Fusion. The range of his musical spectrum at such an early age answers a lot of questions about the style of music he creates today.
Davis was fortunate to study under a prominent jazz instructor where his talents grew tremendously, focusing mainly in the area of improvisation while also expanding his knowledge through coursework. He began to tap into a special understanding of music that has been opening up creative doors ever since. Davis received a Bachelor’s Degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Immediately following his time at Berklee, Caleb worked as a full-time musician in Nashville, Tennessee. There he worked as a sideman for various Country, Gospel, and R&B acts.
After two years of steady work as a sideman, Davis decided to create something of his own. In 2009 Davis moved home to the Charlotte area and began his journey as a full-time solo artist. During this time and after two years of writing, countless hours of rehearsal, and 7 months in the studio, Caleb Davis released his debut, self titled CD.
